Step 7 reads, " Your urge to simplify and feel inspired is fuelled by the desire to be your natural self-that is, your nature self. So give yourself permission to get away, to trek or camp in the woods, swim in a river, lake, or ocean; sit by an open fire; ride horseback through trails; or ski down a mountain slope. This doesn't have to mean long, planned vacations that are months away-no matter where you live, you're only a few hours or even moments away from a a park, campground, or trail that will allow you to enjoy a feeling of being connected to the entire universe."
Step 10 in part reads, " Play, Play, Play! You'll simplify your life and feel inspired if you learn to play rather that work your way through life…..get back in touch with your real, playful self, and take every opportunity to play! Notice how it makes everything so sweet, and so simple."
1) I hate the cold and I always feel cold. Winter is something I barely tolerate. With the first big snow fall or cold snap I always ask myself why I live here.
2) I work pretty hard. I work full time as an RN on labour and delivery and with a large family I work hard at home too. Play often gets shoved to the bottom of the list. Not too long ago I told my husband I have to have more fun in life, it's the only way I can work so hard.
Considering the two steps and my self confessions, this months challenge and the "bonus" activities were great for me

Here is an awesome video of me going down.
Racing
The reasons they have made it to the top of my list are:
- they are cheap to enter $15
- they are chip timed
- they are well organized
- everyone there is super friendly and supportive
- since they aren't for charity you don't have to listen to a bunch of speeches
January 18 was the first race of the year. Liam, Jarom, Emily, James, Missy, Robin and I all ran the race. Liam and Jarom came in first and second for the youth. I didn't have a great time but my main goal was to finish the race with out falling. The path was icy and several people did wipe out.
