As the date for the tri approached this year it also started to rain. Thankfully it didn't rain as much as last year and Calgary was spared from flooding. It was however raining all the way out to strathmore. When we got there it stopped raining but was cold and windy. The bike ride in the wind was brutal. The 10k out was straight into the wind. At one point there was a small hill down and I thought I could finally get some speed but instead I had to gear down to fight the wind. At the half way point as soon as I turned around it was like someone put me in a sling shot and off I went with the wind at my back.
This tri was amazing! Well organized, super friendly and great snacks after , smores. I will definitely do it again next year. If you are considering doing a tri checkout the trismore and join me next year.

Two things I discovered at this tri:
1) I LOVE TRIATHLONS
I like the challenge of training for all three sports and the mental "game" that goes into it. When I'm done I'm amazed that my body and mind could do such a thing and I feel great.
2) Riding a mountain bike on the road is not that efficient.
Thus the "need" for a road bike.
Introducing my new baby a Trek endurance road bike. When I got my bike home I was nervous to ride it. I've never ridden on skinny wheels before and I've never ridden with toe clips. I was scared I would fall. When Jody got home I wanted to go "just around the block" to get used to it. Instead we headed out on the trails and went 20 km. What a sweet ride. As much as I love my new bike I feel like I'm cheating on my mountain bike.
