I love this Triathlon!
Why:
It's a small town tri with a big town feel.
The pool is outside.
It's well organized.
They have the best announcer-he says your name and where you are from when you enter the water, at each transition point, and at the end. You feel like a super star!
My sister Karen usually does it with me.
Bonus this year-they had awesome medals.
Emily, James, Missy, and Karen all did the tri too. There were a lot of friends doing the tri and it was fun to see and cheer on friends and family on the course.
Jody came with me again this time and he was actually able to watch most of it as it was nice outside.
My goal with this tri was best effort and best times for the year.
The tri went off with out any hitches and I felt good the whole time.
Highlights of the race:
Swim: When I started in the pool my lane companion had a slower pace than I did so I felt super fast. That quickly changed when he finished and my new lane companion was like a shark. At times I thought I was doing the dead float and not moving anywhere.
Bike: A lady passed me on the uphill, I passed her on the down, she passed me on the next uphill, I passed her on the down. I finally had enough and pedalled like crazy and she didn't pass me again. When I looked at the times I beat her by about 1 minute-pheew.
Run: Everyone cheering each other on. One guy called out to me, "You go girl". The grandpa out spraying people with the hose. It was so hot by the run. It felt great.
Well, Triathlon season is over for another year. I absolutely love doing triathlons. The training challenges me as far as I can go and the race gets me nerves up and pushes me in a way that I love.
