So my friend Carly convinced me to do the hypothermic half marathon this year. I've actually wanted to do it for awhile but it has never worked out. I have a love hate relationship with wanting to do this race. I love the medal but I HATE running in the cold. I did mostly indoor training with only a few outdoor runs.
The day of the race was actually nice. My goal for the race was a sub two hour but I didn't make that time. Part of the path was cleared but most was not. The snow had melted into what the race directors called sugar snow. It felt like running in sand on the beach. The soles of my feet and my calves completely cramped up from running in this different surface.
Stats from the race
time: 2:09:37
195/477 overall
68/269 all females
13/51 age group
Not a sub two hour but still pretty happy with the results.
The best part of this race
tim hortons hot chocolate at the end
the best post race meal I've ever had-Fort Calgary knows how to do up a meal
